Many boarding schools will not even consider somebody diagnosed with diabetes. There are only very few specialized boarding schools and most have long wait lists. We knew of the Nordsee-Internat in St. Peter Ording, because I myself went to school there. We called and they were receptive to us because the NSI has developed into a boarding school that is capable for dealing with students with Asthma, Neurodermatitis and Diabetes. As a spa town on the North sea, St. Peter Ording, and therefore the Nordsee-Internat, has unrivaled amenities due to its incomparable location. So we happily accepted their invitation to drive over for a visit and get to know them.
After that first meeting in September of last year only five short months passed before Fin moved into his room at the Sun House dormitory on January 10, 2010. He was excited but in no way anxious about what awaited him. The advantages of the location, the team of tutors, the school administrators, their academic approach, the schools, and the medical precautions all convinced us that the Nordsee-Internat was the perfect fit for us. This boarding school brought our family back together, despite now living far apart.
